Free Quilt Along Starts Today! A WALK IN THE STARS

Welcome Creative Adventurers! Do you like Star blocks? I sure do! I’m so excited to announce my latest Quilt Along called “A Walk in the Stars” on my YouTube Channel DKOHN DESIGNS. It starts today – Week #1 – with the fabric requirements and will run through October 2023.

A Walk in the Stars Quilt – Comics version

Sew along with me over the next two months on MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL DKOHN DESIGNS as we make a fun and easy sampler quilt made of 5 different star blocks. This pattern is easy for a confident beginner to sew. As you can see from my photo above of the sample quilt, it is an unusual zig-zag design that features four rows of stars. Each row has 5 different stars. Each week we will make one of the star block patterns and you will only need to sew 4 of each block pattern. Sew easy!!

SUMMER SCRAPPY SIZZLER QAL – THE REVEAL (and Finishing Instructions too!)

My Summer Scrappy Sizzler Quilt top finished!

Welcome Creative Adventurers! Here it is! The reveal of my Summer 2022 Scrappy Sizzler Quilt! I hope you had lots of fun sewing along with me. The photo above is the multi-color version of the quilt top. I think it turned out great. I’ll have the blue and white version to show you in a couple of weeks. I love the denim sashing and borders. They complement the busy, scrappy blocks and give the eye a place to rest. I’m having it quilted with a medium green thread in a gently floral pattern. I can’t wait to get it back from my long arm quilter!

Summer Scrappy Sizzler Week #2 – Block #1 The 16 Patch Block!

Hello Creative Adventurers! It’s Week #2 of my FREE Summer Scrappy Sizzler Quilt Along for June and July 2022. It’s the simple and easy 16-patch block! This Scrappy Sizzler Block #1 pattern uses 2 1/2″ squares but it’s really just four 4-patch blocks sewn together. You can use any combination of scraps, yardage, fat quarters, and precuts (mini-charm squares, charm squares, layer cake squares). These are many of the tools I love and use every time I quilt. I give you my recommendations for a variety of tools including both basic tools such as my favorite rotary cutter, snips and thread. I’ve got a great storage solution, some helpful trimming and marking tools and a handy machine gadget you’ll love.
